Nikki Meyer - CPM, LM
Hello! I'm Nikki, and I'm so excited to meet you. My family and I have lived in the region for over a decade, with four of our children being born into the hands of a caring midwife in the comfort of our home. We currently live on a five acre farm where I enjoy attempting to grow an extensive garden, including a few flowers, and diving into the world of herbalism. I am so excited to offer a limited line of herbal products aimed at women's health throughout the childbearing years (spoiler alert - clients get some free products as part of their care!) I am licensed as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) through the North American Registry of Midwives and I carry a license in both Minnesota and Iowa.

My Approach to Care
As a midwife, I believe that women deserve education and resources to decide for themselves what options are best for their health and their family. In our hour-long appointments, I take the time to listen to my clients and work with them toward a pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience that aligns with their values and goals. I want each client to have the best experience possible, knowing the each pregnancy and birth affects the rest of our lives.
I'm also love working with women who want midwifery prenatal and postpartum care, but who also want to have their baby in a hospital or who are not appropriate for out-of-hospital birth. Chat with me about options.
Care with Deep Wells Midwifery
Prenatal Care
Prenatal care includes routine visits on the same schedule you would be seen with any other provider. Most of our visits, which take place at my office in Wells, are an hour long and focus on your well-being as a whole person and informed consent. I offer all standard prenatal lab work, as well as some extra options you may find helpful for learning about your health. I can also order ultrasounds with area providers.
Around week 36 of your pregnancy, I will come to your home for one of your visits, at which time we can talk about where and how to prepare your space for your baby's birthday.
Birth
Supplies necessary for your birth are included with your care, including the use of a birth pool, if desired. I also carry a full set of necessary medical supplies, including herbs and medications for bleeding, and neonatal resuscitation equipment. I, along with another birth attendant who will come with me for your birth, am trained in both adult and neonatal resuscitation and other birth emergencies.
After birth, we tidy up your house and tuck you into bed to snuggle and bond with your baby once we know everyone is stable and I have completed a full head-to-toe newborn exam.
Postpartum Care
I will continue to provide care for you and your baby after birth. I will return for a home visit between 24 and 48 hours after birth, at which time I can provide all routine newborn screenings and discuss how breastfeeding is going. I will also do a phone check-in with you between days 3 and 5, and discuss with you if you feel you need another visit at 1 week.
Postpartum care continues with visits back in the office around weeks 3 and 6, unless you desire an additional visit. During your final visit, I can offer a pap smear and time for discussion on family planning options.
Fees and Insurance
I offer a free consult for anyone considering entering care, during which time we will discuss fees and answer any other questions you may have. Fees are paid over the course of your care. I do not offer insurance billing at this time but may be able to provide you with a superbill to submit to insurance.
